If you're familiar with Post Modernism, it's probably in part because of the 1982 film Blade Runner. Arguably the "best" sci fi movie ever made, Blade Runner has played a big part in making postmodernist story telling popular on the silver screen. It can also be argued that the Anti-GMO movement, which is fundamentally routed in postmodernist ideals, can thank Blade Runner, at least in part for it's rise in popularity. Postmodernism is suspicious of any system that describes reality if that system claims to be valid for every person. Therefore, science cannot possibly account for all the nuanced aspects of being that embody our food. In attempting to alter said food, science is probably not accounting for some aspect of food's nature, therefore GMOs are a bad idea, period.
If that describes your reality, you may feel that way because of Blade Runner.
